T-Shirt Screen printing is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil emulsion. The attached stencil forms open areas of mesh that transfer Triangle Ink brand which can be pressed through the mesh. This process uses a sharp edged squeege blade that moves across the screen stencil, forcing or pumping the Triangle Ink or Phoenix White 1701 Series into the mesh openings for transfer by capillary action during the squeegee stroke leaving you a print on a tshirt or any other promotional apparel. Holiday season is here and we at Precision Graphics are doing what we can to make orders go as smoothly as possible. Lots of times people ask me,what is the best file format to send a graphic? I always respond in order of preference. Illustrator ai file, fonts to outlines. The next would be pdf, then high res tif then after that give me what you have such as a jpg, gif, hand drawing etc. Vector files are always best. You can take something that is saved 3″ x 3″ and increase it to 12″x12″ and still maintain clarity. You need to be able to do that especially with screen printing on t shirts. The more crisp the artwork is, the better the output. People will tell me, I have electronic files of my artwork. What I receive via email is jpg save at 72 dpi. Which means at 2″x2″ it is clear, but when I blow it up, it looks like a blurry mess. We cannot use those files when printing on promotional merchandise or screen printing on t-shirts. We need the best artwork from the beginning. So, if you are thinking about having screen printing on tshirts done or having your logo put on some mugs, just remember, send me your highest resolution graphic as possible.

To Make Screen Printing, Embroidery And Digital Printing Run Smoother Or Just To Get Through A Job. The Embroidery Industry Has Many Steps To Get To The Finished Product. Starting With The Design Layout, Customer Approval, Digitizing, Sew Out; Sew Out Customer Approval, Producing The Product Chosen By The Customer. Too Finally, Trimming and Boxing Them Up. All This To Find Out The Customer Doesn’t Like Something. Yes, The Dreaded Oh Shit Now What! While Hoping The Colors, Sizes, And Quantities Are All Right. You Come To Find Out That The Hoop Ring Was Still Visible On The Garment and The Customer Can’t Wear Them Right NOW. For You as A Business Owner There World Is Crashing On You Today. So, What Can You Do To Get Rid Of The Hoop Rings? Some Shops Use A Steamer To Remove This Hoop Ring And It Does Work Good. Today I’m Presenting A Different Way. It’s Great If You Can Afford a Steamer or Even Multiple Steamers in a Shop. This Product Is Available at Wal-Mart and is Very Inexpensive. They Come In Spray Cans That Range From $.97 To $1.05 Per Can. Another Great Benefit Is That They Can Also Be Used By May Employees in A Shop At Once Not Like A Steamer. This Product Is Called Magic Sizing and Can Perform Was Well As A Steamer. It’s Simple to Use and Is a Fast as a Steamer. So, Once The Embroidery is Done and The Product Is Trimmed Out On The Inside And Outside Spray Magic Sizing Hold Can 8 to 10 Inches from Fabric, Spray Lightly and Evenly, All Around The Hoop Ring And Once Dry The Hoop Ring Is Gone. Another Tip Shake Well Before and During Use. Do Not Use On Garments Labeled Dry Clean Only.

Digital Printing Vs Screen Printing Which One?

People ask me all the time, why should I go digital printing or direct to garment versus screen printing?

For me, it all depends on the design, the type of shirt, and the color of shirt it’s going on.

In lower quantity orders such as 1-36 pieces, digital can be a great way to produce a design digitally with a lot of colors at a lower rate.  You can reproduce photos, print over seams and zippers and also print on those hard to get to places such as on hoodies, over pockets and so on with direct to garment printers.  The drawback to digital is that it is water based ink.

So, all polyester performance fabrics are not available for digital printing at this time.

Polyester is meant to wick away water, not absorb it like cotton would during the digital printing process.

The last thing to consider is what color of shirt you are wanting to print on.  Standard digital printers are meant to be printed on lighter colored garments such as white, gray, light blue t shirts etc.

Think of it like you are putting a colored piece of paper inside a color printer.  If the paper is yellow and you print a photo, the face will be yellow.

Many of the misconceptions on digital direct to garment printing is that once the garment is washed, the design looks faded out.  It’s actually the cotton fibers that are now sticking up making a layer of cotton fuzz on the shirt that is blocking you from seeing the design.  The design is still there.  It’s just seen through fibers.
